Who can enroll in JROTC?
Any high school student (9th-12th) grade student can enroll in JROTC.

Does enrollment in JROTC incur any military obligation?
No, enrollment in JROTC does not incur a military obligation. JROTC is an

credit for each semester he/she receives a passing grade, 70 or higher.
--------------------------------------
What benefits do enrollment in JROTC offer?
Cadets enrolled in JROTC receive numerous benefits:

leadership skills, citizenship, wellness/fitness, and many other life skills;
2) opportunity to participate in many extracurricular activities;
3) opportunity to wear a uniform that is recognized world-wide and
symbolizes tradition, pride, sacrifice, determination, patriotism,
leadership, freedom, and honor;

--------------------------------------
Must a student be enrolled in JROTC all year?
To receive the full benefit of the program, yes; however, if scheduling
precludes this - no problem. We do recommend that if at all possible, the
student's first time in JROTC be for a full year. If the student is
enrolled
for the entire year, then JROTC substitutes for Wellness, which is required
for graduation.
--------------------------------------
What is a "participating student"?
Cadets who are non-compliant and refuse to cooperate and do as they are
requested by the JROTC cadre, will be removed from the corps of cadets and
placed in a "participating student" status. In this status, cadets are more
than likely to fail the course, not receive the credit, and are prohibited
from participating in any JROTC extracurricular activities to include
attendance of the military ball, parades, and the command inspection which
constitutes a final exam grade for the course.
--------------------------------------
What extracurricular activities are available to JROTC?
Cadets are allowed to joined the Rifle team, Drill team, Color Guard, and
the
Raider team. Additionally, they participate in 3-4 parades per school year
and usually get to go on an end-of-year trip (Six Flags, etc.) There is
also
a JROTC Military Ball in December which they are required to participate.
--------------------------------------
What is a cadet?
Cadet is the title given to a student enrolled in JROTC. It distinguishes
them as being more than just a student enrolled in high school.
--------------------------------------
Who is eligible to become a JROTC instructor?
Only commissioned officers and senior ranking noncommissioned officers who
retire from the military service (Army, Air Force, Navy or Marines) are
eligible to teach JROTC.
--------------------------------------
Do you have to wear the uniform?
Yes; cadets are required to wear the uniform one day a week. For our
program, the uniform is worn each Thursday. Cadets are required to arrive
to school in the uniform and keep it on all day.
--------------------------------------
What is the JROTC essay topic for SY07-08?
The essay topic for SY07-08 is: "JROTC Helps Me Deal with Peer Pressure".
(All cadets will develop a 300 word essay explaining how JROTC helps them in
this regard. Paper is to be submitted prior to end of semester. See calendar
for time line - this paper will constitute a quarter test grade. Student
will use one thinking map in their paper.)

When does a 1st year cadet receive his/her uniform?
All first year cadets must earn the priviledge to wear the JROTC uniform.
They must receive a minimum passing grade of '75' for the 1st 9-week grading
period as well as demonstrate a knowledge of JROTC subject areas such as
