EDUCATION:
I received my BA in English/Secondary Education from Southern Adventist
University in 1991. I completed my student teaching at Brainerd High School.
I taught freshman English/freshman Honors English. I am a "Highly Qualified"
teacher of English. I am currently pursuing my masters in Educational
Technology / Library Media from Indiana State University.
PERSONAL:
I am married and have two children. My daughter is 7 and is in the second
grade; she loves Webkinz and horses. My son is 5 and in in kindergarten; he
loves anything with wheels that moves (cars, trucks, and trains). My
children are the light of my life. Our household also includes a Weimeraner
named Grey and a cat named Scout (after the character in "To Kill A
Mockingbird").
I have lived in six different states. I was born in Michigan but only lived
there until I was two. When my sister was born my parents moved to the
family farm in South Dakota where we raised corn and beef cattle. When I
was 11 we left South Dakota and moved to Oklahoma. My sophomore through
senior years in high school I went away to boarding school in Arkansas.
After graduation, at the age of 19, I worked in Malibu, California, as a
nanny to four children. I moved to the Chattanooga area in 1987 and
consider it one of the best places to live.
I have family in California, Colorado, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Texas.
Aside from my husband and children, only my parents and sister live here in
Chattanooga.
I love working with young people. I am anxious to get to know each and
every one of you and look forward to a great school year!
