How do I know what is expected of my child in computer?

A handout is given to all parents on curriculum night briefly explaining what 
students will be doing in computer. The handout directs parents to this 
website where they can find assignment schedules and grading scales for 
computer and behavior.

What does my K-grade 1 child do in computer class?

K-grade 1 students learn Kid Pix. Kid Pix is a multimedia program in which 
students can draw and insert backgrounds, pictures, and sounds as they create 
slides. Slides can then be combined with transactions to make slideshows. 
Classroom teachers work together with the computer teacher to plan activities 
that are integrated with the curriculum. Some teachers bring students to the 
computer lab to work on educational Internet sites.

What does my 2nd grade child do in computer class?

Second grade students continue to do Kid Pix activities, but after the first 
quarter of school, keyboarding is emphasized. Students are graded on 
Technique and Following Directions (80% of grade) and Keyboarding Speed and

What does my 3rd grade child do in computer class?

Third grade students continue to use Kid Pix. During the unit on oceans and 
whales, students will be collecting information from previewed web sites and 
making a Power Point Presentation. Students are graded mostly on Keyboarding.

What does my 4th grade child do in computer class?

Fourth grade students continue to work on keyboarding skills. They will also 
be doing activities in Microsoft Word and Power Point. They will begin to 
learn to use the Internet to gather information needed for the classroom.
