Announcements

Welcome to Mrs. Rand's Classroom

New information is added beginning in the middle of the page each week.

******BIRTHDAYS******

We are always glad to celebrate your child's BIRTHDAY in our room with a healthy snack. If you wish to bring something, please let me know at least 1 week in advance so that I can plan accordingly. It would be helpful if you could drop birthday snacks off in the morning with your children so that we could have the snack as we have extra time in our schedule. Please remember that we are a peanut free classroom when choosing snacks.

***** PARTY INVITATIONS *****

In an effort to "treat others the way we want to be treated," I am asking that you do NOT pass out party invitations through the classroom unless you have an invitation for every girl or every boy in the class. I don't like seeing hurt feelings from those children who are excluded from the party. Thank you for your cooperation.

***** SPECIAL EVENTS *****

If your child has a special EVENT that they would like for me to attend, please let me know. Over the past several years, I have been to plays, ball games, recitals, and baptisms to name a few. I always try to attend as long as we don't already have something scheduled as a family.

***** PLEASE SAVE THESE ITEMS *****

SAVE your Campbell's Soup, Nestle Water labels, and Boxtops for Education Labels. Please send them in for our school.

***** I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU *****

Communications is the key to any great relationship. Please contact me with good news on your child so I can celebrate with you. Please let me know when your child may be having a tough morning because they may have a concern about something at home or at school. I want your child to have the best day possible in my classroom each day and it will help me make that happen if we communicate with each other as needed. Send me a note or call the office and leave me a message. I will be glad to get in touch with you during my planning time or after school. I try my best to respond to all notes and calls the day they are received.

You may reach me by:

phone at school 526-2414

email randl@k12tn.net

or send a note to school

If I don't contact you within 24 hours, there is a good chance that I did not receive your message, so please call again. I try to respond to all parent notes, calls, and emails weekdays within 24 hours of receiving the message.

************* Absences, Tardies, and Early Dismissal ************

Schools will be on the same time schedule as previous years. Students are allowed to go to their classrooms at 7:45 a.m. They will be considered tardy after 8 a.m. Schools will be dismissed at 3 p.m. Any tardies or early dismissals will disqualify students from having perfect attendance for the 9 weeks.

****** Change in Address, Phone, or Emergency Contacts*****

Please notify the front office and/or me of any changes in address, phone, emergency contacts, etc. We want to make sure our records are as up-to-date as possible.

***** Monday Folders *****

Please be sure to check your child's folder and sign the sheet on the back. Folders should be sent back to school on Tuesday.

*****Playground Balls*****

The playground balls that I purchased at the beginning of the year are continuing to go missing. If you would like to donate a basketball or rubber kick-ball, it would be gladly appreciated.

*****Grades On-Line*****

I will usually update grades on line by Wednesday after you have looked over your child's Monday folder. However, I will not begin putting in grades for the 2nd nine weeks until I am sure that the 1st nine weeks grades are complete and printed for report cards.

******Colonial Day - THANK YOU ******

Thank you to all the great families who helped make Colonial Day a wonderful day of learning for our children. I appreciate every one of you. Without your help, we could not have this learning opportunity.

*****Christmas Party & Book/Candy Bar Exchange*****

Our Christmas party will be on Friday morning, December 18 at 8 a.m.

Book/Candy Bar Exchange

Each child should bring a new chapter book that is both appropriate in age and content. A regular size candy bar should be wrapped with the book. The wrapped package should be labeled for a boy if your child is a boy or for a girl if your child is a girl. The girls will have a gift swap and the boys will have a gift swap.

*****2 Gallon Bags*****

I am out of the 2 gallon size zip-lock bags. The cheapest place in town is Aldi's to buy these. They usually come 10 to a box. Please make sure that if you are buying these, they zip seal close and they are 2 gallon size. Thank you in advance if you can send some of these in to the classroom.
