Weekly Curriculum

Math-  We will continue to work on multiplication facts.   (0's/1's; 2; 5; 10; 3; 4; 6; 7; 8; 9; 11; 12)
 

Math: We begin Tuesday reviewing 3rd grade math vocabulary terms.  We will go over our benchmark 
test from December as well as work on multiplication.  We will learn how to multiply 3 numbers in 
lesson 77 where we will review volume, area, and perimeter.   Students are expected to label all word 
problem answers as well as label money correctly and time correctly.  Encourage this at home too when 
checking over their homefun! 

Reading-  We will be reading Centerfield Ballhawk this week.  The skills are sequencing, prefixes, and 
suffixes.  Performance will be Thursday this week since we won't begin the story until Tuesday.  We will 
also go over the benchmark test from December.

Spelling- Spelling performance is Friday.  See spelling page.

Language-  We will study pronouns this week.  We will sort them between singular and plural as well as 
learn about their antecedents.  Students will practice using them correctly in a persuasive letter.

Hand Writing- We will continue to practice cursive.. Students can write daily in whatever handwriting 
they prefer.  I prefer whichever your student does best.  

Social Studies:    

We will begin with chapter 12 this week.  We will learn about bartering, the money system, free market 
economy, earning, saving, spending, and world business.  We have fun activities planned to learn the 
concept of supply and demand as well was bartering.  Students will even work with a budget.  This is a 
short chapter, and the test will be Tuesday, January 12.  Look for study guides in your child's 
homefolder on Tuesday.
