FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
What does an elementary counselor do? The majority of my day is spent in teaching classroom guidance lessons. The remainder of the time is spent with children individually or in small groups. Occasionally, I do some academic tutoring to enhance a student's self esteem and provide needed review. I collaborate with teachers, parents and other school personnel to provide the best possible services. How often does my child go to guidance? Your child goes to guidance once a week. Your teacher will provide you with a schedule. Where is the guidance classroom? The guidance classroom is the second door on the left after you enter the front doors of Capshaw. How can I get in touch with the counselor? You can get in touch with me by leaving me a message in the front office and having the secretary put the message in my box. You may call me at school 526-2414 and leave a message for me. I will be glad to return your call or set up an appointment. By contacting your child's teacher, she will be able to let me know your concerns. When are 2010 TCAP tests given for third and fourth graders? The TCAP test is usually given the second or third week in April. April 15, 2010 is the date for TCAP testing to begin. Please have your child bring 2 #2 pencils.
