My husband will be having surgery on December 10 at Vanderbilt. I will have to be out of school a few days to take care of him. I will be out on Dec. 10, 11, 14, 15, 16. I am hoping to return on the 17th if he is doing O.K. Mrs. Moore and Ms. Wilson will be my substitutes, and they are both excellent. If you need to contact me during this time, I will be checking my school email at home. I hate to miss school, but this is something I can't help.
The sale of Capshaw yearbooks has been extended through Dec. 11. The cost is $20.00.
Our Christmas party will be on December 17th from 8:00 - 8:45. We will have breakfast foods. We do not do a gift exchange. Instead we do a service project for Toys for Tots. We ask each child to bring in an unwrapped toy for this worthy cause. A note will be sent home soon about it. If you signed up to help with this party, Mrs. Turner will contact you.
Also, on December 18th the first grade classes will present the play, "Santa! Wake Up!" The children will need special shirts. A red note was sent home on Friday about it.

Mrs. Wright has challenged ALL students to learn the states and capitals. When your child is able to say them from memory, they may go to the office and say them to her. Their name will be put up on the wall of fame, and, later on, they will receive a t-shirt!
CONGRATULATIONS TO LUKE!! HE SAID ALL THE STATES AND CAPITALS ON NOVEMBER 9.
This week we will be learning the following things:
Reading - Our story is DID YOU SEE CHIP? Your child will bring home his/her books on Thursday to read the story. Please be sure to study the vocabulary words in the folder for this story. Your child should be able to read them without hesitation. After Christmas the students will begin reading the weekly selection tests on their own. So far I have been reading it to them. So, it is very important that they study these words throughout the week.
Vocabulary words:
city, house, sometimes, take, there
