Hello!
My name is Emily Pierce. This will be my 19th year teaching at
Capshaw. I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades.
I graduated from Tennessee Tech with my Bachelor's degree in 1989,
and I completed my Master's degree in Instructional Leadership in the summer
of 2006.
I have been married to Steve Pierce for 24 years, and we have
two children. Blake is a junior at Tennessee Tech University,
and Abbie is an 10th grader at Cookeville High School.
My hobbies include spending time with my family, going to the lake,
playing with our pets (4 dogs, 1 guinea pig, & a horse), shopping, and reading
good books.
I feel blessed to have the opportunity to teach your child this year!
Capshaw students will exceed state academic standards and demonstrate
exemplary citizenship.
We believe:
*that students can reach levels of high academic achievement through
differentiated instruction in the classroom and individualized programs.
*assessment should be varied, ongoing evaluation, both formal and informal.
*that all stakeholders (parents, teachers, and community members) share the
responsibility to help children reach their fullest potential.
*all stakeholders should have opportunities to provide input in
decision-making and school policy.
*that a safe positive environment is essential in encouraging growth and
development.
* As our learning community becomes more diverse, we believe it is our
responsibility to foster relationships and provide support for all families.
*technology integrated throughout the curriculum increases student learning
and motivation.
*that all staff members should be responsible to the best of their abilities
for understanding and complying with local, state, and federal mandates and
policies in providing services for all students.
