READING: no Harcourt story this week
Focus Skill: cause and effect
SPELLING: none
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will finish Chapter 8 (The Colonies Unite). This chapter has LOTS of important
information, so we will have a Vocabulary Test (Tuesday) and a Concept Test (Thursday) to break
things down. Please study a little each night. There is no study guide for the vocabulary test,
however students should complete vocabulary "windowpanes" for a grade. The vocabulary
windowpanes could serve as a study guide for the vocabulary test.
Students may return study guides on test day with a parent signature and how long he/she studied
for 5 bonus points on the test.
When studying for social studies, I encourage you to focus on the information on the study guide.
The study guide is taken directly from the test. It would be helpful to go over this information for a
few minutes each night to avoid the last minute "cramming" for the test.
*I have sent home username and passwords for the online S.S. book--they are taped inside cover of
the planner. Go to my links page to access the website.
LANGUAGE: singular/plural possessive nouns/test on Wednesday-begin verbs
