December 17, 2009 -Reminder: Please inform the office of any changes in address, phone number, contact numbers, etc. We want the most up to date information at all times for the safety of your children. -I hope that all of you have a bright and Merry Christmas and a wonderful start to 2010. -No school on Monday, January 4th due to teacher inservice. School will resume on Tuesday, January 5th. -Please make sure that your child has a replenished supply of school supplies to begin the 2nd half of the year. Many are out of glue, crayons, pencils, etc. -As winter weather approaches, please make sure that your child knows what to do in case of an early dismissal. Please also inform me of those plans so that I can help get your child where they need to be. Please avoid calling the office if at all possible as we are all trying to get your child home safely. Watch your local channels, listen to the local radio or visit www.putnamcountyschools.com for school dismissal information. -Mrs. Wright has challenged all students to say the states and capitals. I also want to challenge the students as I know they can do this. There are many songs to help you learn the states and capitals. -If you shop at Kroger, even just occasionally, please consider buying a Kroger card from the school office. You will pay $5.00 and it is preloaded with that amount. Then each time you buy something at Kroger, use your card and Capshaw will get 4% of the total sales. -Please remember to read books and take AR tests. Deadline for this nine weeks is Monday, December 14th. Congratulations to Vivek, Alex and Wes for making it to the 20 point wall. Also, congratulations to Sophie, Peighton, Dylan and Garrett for making it to the 10 point wall. Everyone is doing so well with AR and that really excites me. Keep up the GREAT work! -EVERY Wednesday is now Spirit Day. Let your child wear orange and blue and show their Capshaw Spirit! -Don't forget to send back the "My Week" Sheet every day. -Please make sure your child has their headphones as we will start using them as we go to computer lab and use the laptops in our room. -Please review words for the story "On the Way to the Pond" in your child's reading vocabulary folder (came home Friday). Send it to school every Thursday to be checked and I will send it back home with the next group of words marked. Don't forget snack and water bottles! Only water should be in your child's water bottle. They may bring a drink for snack or lunch only. ***Putnam County Schools will not be sending home school menus this year.
