When is my child allowed to return to school after being home sick?
It depends on the illness and your physician's discretion. Putnam
County Board of Education's guidelines state that the child has to be
fever free for 24 hours.
How do I know whether or not to keep my child at home?
Policy states that a chiild should be kept at home if any of the following
symptoms are present. Temperature of 100 degrees or more, a dry
hacking or productive cough, purulent (green, yellow , thick or unusual)
drainage, diarrhea, skin rashes or eruptions, such as scabies, chicken
pox or impetigo, complaints of earache, severe stomachache, sore
throat or severe headache, red throat, swollen glands around jaw, ears
or neck, nausea and/or vomiting, lethargy, head or body lice.
What is the policy for taking medications at school?
The medication has to be brought in by an ADULT. The child can NOT
bring it in. There has to be a medication form filled out for all
medications (OTC, cough drops and prescription). Medication has to be
kept in the clinic, NOT with child ( this excludes inhalers). All medication
must be in labled prescription bottle or unopened OTC package.
What is the pink eye policy?
If pink eye is even suspected, the policy states that the child must go to
a physician to be evaluated. If it is not pink eye, the child may return with
a doctor's excuse stating that . If it is diagnosed as pink eye, the child
can not return until he/she has been on an antibiotic for 24 hours.
