ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mrs. Travis's Treasure's parents,
We have worked hard this past week. Your child is having to
expand their brain quite a bit. The making change is one of the
hardest skills there is in the 3rd grade standards. On the "BIG" test
students are given amounts of money in $ and ., so they can use their
subtraction and calculators. They are also given problems where they
are only given bills and coins. They are given four different choices
of bills and coins and asked to choose the right one! They must know
both ways. It's a bummer for folks so young.
We are through the worst of the money. Yeah!!! We will practice it
all year. We will get better at this.
This week we will be cooking omelets on Monday with the help of
Beth Davidson. On Friday, we are going to "Alice In Wonderland" and
touring downtown. In between, we will be doing regular school things.
Your child will be writing a how-to paragraph this week. This is one
of the reasons for the omelets, to demonstrate. They will bring home
an outline to fill out to help them when they write. I am sure they
will be asking you some questions. If not, you ask them about this.
If you have not sent your child's permission slip and $2 for the
field trip, please get that in. We must turn our numbers in to the
lunchroom on Wednesday. I need the permission at least by then. We
are really going to have a busy week. It's going to be lot's of fun!!!

Sincerely,
Cathy Travis
