About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
My name is Cathy Travis and I come from a long line of teachers. I guess you could say it is in my blood. I've been teaching for over 20 years. I've spent lots of time the last 5 years here at Capshaw. Teaching is my passion. I spent time doing other things, but it always called me back. Now about me! I have a wonderful husband, Mark. He is an arbitrator and mediator. We have a great son, Adam, Politics is his passion. He has worked in political campaigns both at the state and national levels. He now, thankfully, works as a legislative liasion for the Commissioner of Health in Nashville. We have a dog, Pearl. I can make children mind better than her. We have numerous traveling barn cats. I love to walk and read when I'm not at school. We go to the beach in the spring and fall. We spend a good bit of time in Dubois, Wyoming during the summer on horseback at T-Cross Ranch. The rest of our time is spent with our extended family and our many friends. I can't wait to get to know your child and your family!
Mission Label:
Mission
My goal is to help children grow in basic skills, in creativity, in life skills, and in the ability to solve problems. I want children to practice fair and good citizenship habits in our classroom and school because I want them to be good community citizens. Our classroom should be a safe, non-threatening learning environment where each class member is respected. I hope that students will read to learn as they become better readers and write to communicate and entertain.
