Hello! My name is Tina Thurman and I am thrilled to be your teacher this year!
This is my 22nd year of teaching. I received my B.S. Degree from University of
Tennessee in Knoxville, TN and my M.Ed. Degree in Administration and Supervision
from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. I've wanted to be a
teacher since I was in the first grade. I used to come home from school every day
and play school with my dolls and stuffed animals. Teaching children is more fun
than dolls and stuffed animals!
I've been married for 19 years to my husband, Ron Thurman. He is a Chancellor
(Judge) of the Chancery Court of the 13th Judicial District. He has to travel to
7 different counties to do his job. He gets to drive around a lot!
We have 2 sons. Blake is a freshman at Cookeville High School. He is on the football
and baseball team. Parker is a 5th grader at Highland Rim Christian Academy.
He plays baseball, but enjoys playing tennis and golf too. We also have a cat named
Jackson.
My interests include church activities, reading, cooking, shopping, playing tennis,
riding my bicycle, going to the movies with my boys, watching old movies at home
with Ron, and watching my two boys play sports.
My mission for my class is simple. I want every child to learn as much as their
brains can hold! Every child is capable of learning. I also want my class to respect
themselves as well as others around them. I want each child to grow academically,
emotionally, and socially this year. I want learning to be fun and exciting! My class
is a family and we will live in harmony together this year. I want my students to be
the best that they can be!
