Policy:
First grade does require homework assignments. Assignments are made to help
reinforce concepts the children are studying. I must see all work to
evaluate their progress. I realize that occasionally they all may have a
legitimate reason for not doing work (forgot the book, had to go somewhere
and got in late, etc.) If this is the case, I WILL ACCEPT A NOTE WRITTEN BY
THE PARENT EXPLAINING WHY THE CHILD COULD NOT TO THE WORK AND WILL GLADLY
GIVE THEM AN EXTRA NIGHT TO DO SO. The work must be in the next day, or the
parent should send another note. If a child just tells me their excuse
without a note from the parent, a zero will be given.
1. All assignments will be required from all children unless for an
educational reason it needs to be modified.
2. When a child does not finish class work in a reasonable amount of time,
it will become homework.
3. Any child who does not have their homework may be sent to the office to
complete it during that class period or recess. However, they will still
receive a zero for that assignment unless they bring a note the following
day explaining why it was late.
4. Three times incomplete work will result in detention.
*Remember all assignments are recorded daily by your child in their journal,
so you can help them keep up with what is due and when. If we work
together, missing work should not be a problem.
