5th Grade's Monday Memo

The AR  contest ends this Thursday, May 17th!  Keep reading and you will get there!!!!

 

All library books were due by May 10th!  If you still have some books out, please return them ASAP!  You will have to pay for any missing books.

 

All classroom library books and Literature Circle books must be returned by May 18th for inventory!  Thank you!! 

 

No School: May 18, 25, 28!

 

Upcoming Events:

- May 24 Encore Field Day 9:30-10:15

-May 30 DARE Graduation 9:OOAM Big Gym with 5th grade Cookout to follow.

 

Finals (4th Nine Weeks Tests) are next week!  The test will be cumulative, covering skills taught since Christmas.  Be on the lookout for communication from each teachers regarding the skills tested.

 

Schedule is as follows:

 

Monday: Reading

Tuesday: Math, Science

Wednesday: English

Thursday: Social Studies

 

 

English:

·         DARE Essays are due on May 18th.  This will count as a grade.

·         We are reviewing over Writing and Grammar skills.

May 15th: Writing End-of-Year Test 2 ~ Sequential/Time Order, Graphic Organizers with Writing, Gathering Information, Produce and Publish your Work, Supporting Details
**24 Question Probe from Discovery Education that we will take on Paper.

~May 17th: English End-of-Year Test 2 ~ Prepositional Phrases and Correcting/Combining Sentences
**7 Question Probe from Discovery Education that we will take on Paper.

 

 

Math:

·         I can solve problems involving the addition and subtraction of fractions.

·         I can work on increasing computation skills.

 

Reading:

·         I can analyze a poem’s structure.

·         Description: thinking capI can identify a poem’s rhyme scheme, style, and type.

·         I can classify poetry according to its type.

 

The Poetry Vocabulary test 2 is scheduled for this Wednesday.  The list was given out today and they will be allowed to use it as well as any notes on the test.

 

 

 

Science:

·         National Geographic Explorer: Covers standard from the first of the year and some 6th grade standards. We will bring in world events.

·         Grades will be taken from comprehension sheets.

 

Social Studies:

·         Introducing 6th Grade Standards

 

 

 

 

Please check your child’s planner folder daily for any assignments and upcoming tests.
