5th Grade Dress Code: 2008-2009

The purpose of our dress code is to help promote community standards of
decency, cleanliness, etiquette, decorum, and good citizenship.

The following standards for dress apply for students in the 5th grade while
on campus at Caywood Elementary School.

1.	Midriff/cutoff and see-through clothes are not permissible for any
students. Garments must be of a length and fit that are suitable to the
build and stature of the student and must not expose the body or
undergarments or be otherwise immodest.

2.	No short skirts, short dresses, or short shorts are allowed. The
shorts, dresses and skirts should come to the top of the knee.

3.	Untucked shirts must not extend past the hip area. This includes t-
shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters, etc.

4.	Articles of clothing that do not promote a wholesome environment
will
not be allowed. (Obscene pictures and language, profane language, sexual
references, and references to drugs or alcohol will not be allowed.)

5.	Sagging/baggy parts or tight/oversized clothing are not an
acceptable
manner of dress. Boys’ shirts are to be tucked in unless they have a
waistband. Belts must be worn and must be fitted and put through the belt
loops. Belts must be appropriate size and solid color with no logos.

6.	Body piercing that distracts from a wholesome learning environment
will not be allowed.

7.	Spaghetti strap tops should not be worn. All tops must have straps
that are at least 3-fingers wide. Necklines of all upper garments must be
modest. Low cut necklines are prohibited. Also, when standing the top must
not show the waistline when arms are extended up above the head.

8.	Shoes must be laced and/or velcroed at all times. Shoes must be
laced, tied, strapped, and hooked properly. No rolling shoes are allowed.

If, in the teacher(s) judgment, a student is not appropriately dressed, the
following consequences will apply:
