4th 9 Weeks AR Celebration:  We will celebrate our 4th 9 Weeks reading goal winners on Thursday afternoon with extra play time on the big playground.  Student who reached their goal AND percentage may wear jeans and a hat on this day.  Students who only met their point goal should wear regular school attire.

 

Cursive:  Cursive writing is a skill that is taught in 3rd grade.  Your child has cursive packets that he/she should be working on and has due dates.  Please ensure your child is treating and completing these packets like any other schoolwork. 

 

Multiplication/Division Facts:  It is extremely important that your child has his/her multiplication facts MEMORIZED by the end of this school year in preparation for 4th grade.  To help your child, we are having TIMED multiplication tests every day.   

 

End of Year/Cast Party:  Our end of year/cast party will be Wednesday, May 30 at 1:30.  We will have pizza, ice cream sundaes, and drinks.  Please send $3.00 to help cover the expense of the party by this Thursday, May 24.  Thank you!

 

Reading Learning Targets:

  • I can compare and contrast.

 

Math Learning Targets:

  • I can memorize my multiplication and related division facts.
  • I can solve problems involving elapsed time.  Test Tuesday

§ Thursday, May 24 – Encore Field Day (10:15 – 11:45) – Students should wear TENNIS shoes on this day & End of Year/Cast Party Money Due

Multiplication FactsIt isEXTREMELYimportant that your childMEMORIZESmultiplication facts 0 through 10. This is a critical skill that must be mastered in order to be successful with fractions and 4thgrade. Please continue to practice multiplication facts with your child nightly.

 

Grading Rubric: Below is the corrected grading rubric.  The “grade” or number on each paper corresponds to the following standards code which will also be on progress reports and report cards.  

 

(4)   Advanced = Superior mastery of skill; significantly prepared for the next level of study (93%-100%)   
(3)   Proficient =
Mastery of skill; prepared for next level of study (85%-92%)

(2)     Basic = Partial mastery of skill; minimally prepared for next level of study (70%-84%)       

(1)   Below Basic = No mastery of skill; not prepared for the next level of study (69% and below)

(*)  Indicates reteaching and/or modifications used (ex: extended time, modified testing, etc.)

 

 

 

 

A+ and Study Island:  Your child may work on both A+ and Study Island from home (if you have internet).
We also have IXL Math that your child may work on at home.

 

 

  
 

Homework:  Homework will typically be sent home every night except Friday.  In addition to the ‘paper’ homework, your child needs to read 15-20 minutes each night. 

 

Encore (Activity) Schedule:  Our normal Encore schedule is:  Monday – Music, Tuesday – PE, Wednesday – Mrs. Margaret, Thursday – Library, Friday – PE  Please ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on P.E. days.
