Week of December 7

We have reached the end of
Unit 3 in reading so we will not begin any new stories this week. Instead we
will review and take our unit vocabulary and spelling tests on Friday. We will
take our unit skills test the week December 14-17. There is a list of skills
and words that will be tested in your child’s folder. Please review the list
and initial each night for homework.

We are enjoying putting
treats in our stockings! We can’t wait to bring them home! If you would like
to send any treats to put in the stockings, that would be wonderful! Some
ideas
are candy, pencils, erasers,
glue sticks, crayons, stickers, etc. We have 18 students in our class. Thanks
so much!

Our Christmas party
will be Thursday, December 17th at 1:30! On the 18th we will wear our pajamas
and watch The Polar Express in the Little Theatre. It will be so much fun!
This is a half day and we dismiss at 11:20.

Please read with your child
every day. Below are some questions to ask your child after reading:
When reading with your
child ask them the Helping Hand Questions.....
1. Who is the story about?
(characters)
2. Where does the story
take place? (setting)
3. What is the problem in
the story?
4. How is the problem
solved?
5. What happens at the
very end of the story?
They answer these five
questions every day when reading stories. This is a good way to practice comprehension.
