Mrs. Cindy's Class

In December, Thursday the 17th at 1:30 will be our Christmas Party and on the 18th which is 11:20 dismissal, we will all wear PJs and watch "The Polar Express" in the Little Theater! First grade is so much fun and we are learning soooo much!

In December, we will each have our own Christmas stocking in the classroom and we can fill it when we earn treats for AR testing, just plain being good or doing a good job. When we earn a treat, we take it to our stocking to try and fill it by our Christmas party on the 18th which is when we will take them home. The fun part is that each child may bring treats for the kids' stockings as long as they bring enough for all 18!

We are working hard to become independent readers and AR testers! Remember to read with your child each and every day!

When reading with your child ask them the BIG FIVE QUESTIONS.......

1. Who is the story about? (characters)

2. Where does the story take place? (setting)

3. What is the problem in the story?

4. How is the problem solved?

5. What happens at the very end of the story?

They answer these five questions every day when reading stories. This is a good way to practice comprehension.

Parents, if you would like to send in watercolor paints (approx. $2.00) I am letting those that have them use them in place of crayons during some art time!
