WOW! Our year is coming to an end this week.  I am proud of the students for their hard work and efforts to improve and become better students.  Third grade will be challenging.  Students will begin receiving grades in all subjects (adding Science and Social Studies).  They will take TCAP next spring which will not only count as a portion of their second semester average but also will determine if a child passes or not (students MUST be a minimum of basic in reading to pass).  Students will be able to meet these challenges with support from both school and home.  Parents, you must be involved.  Everyday is an opportunity for you to see what your child is learning.  READ together.  Ask questions about the work you see in the daily folders. Check homework and help your child correct missed items before returning it to school. Spend a few minutes each day this summer reading with your child.  Whether its a newspaper, magazine, or book that has already been read, a few minutes daily will make a difference.
I hope everyone has a safe and fun summer.  :)
