1. Choose 25 tone/mood words that you DO NOT KNOW from the handout.
2. Define the word.
3. Give an example of a person/situation that could be described by that word.
Example:
poignant - painfully affecting
A funeral could be a poignant occasion because it is emotional and can be painful.

1. Take Diagnostic ACT English test.
2. Choose three tone/mood words from your list and create illustrations that depict the meaning. These must be colorful and neat. Include the word, but DO NOT use words to define it. Use pictures from the Internet, magazines, or your iwn drawings.

2. Remove unnecessary descriptions. Use as many senses as possible to describe the ones remaining. You need at least two per description.
3. Add abstract ideas in connection with the concrete images.
4. Re-write the essay using actions verbs (active voice), only the important descriptions, and the abstractions that apply.

2. Complete essay on "Traveling."
3. HW - page 94 of Interview and ch. 2 of Professor.
CW -
