What is my child doing in computer class?

Learning about computers along with doing programs on the computer that 
are correlated with state standards.

What programs are being used in the computer lab?

Pre-K and Kindergarten will use Wings(Basic Skills).  First Grade will use 
Skills Tutor(Reading and Math Skills).  Second, Third, and Fourth will use 
Study Island(Reading, Math, Social Studies, and Science).
Second Grade - Fourth Grade will use Kid Pix and Study Island.

What is Study Island?

This is a new computer program we are doing at Dresden Elementary.  It is a 
web-based program that allows the student to work on state standards that 
they will be expected to know for TCAP.  This program uses various games to 
keep the students attention, but at the same time, they are learning the 
skills.  The students are really enjoying this program!!
