Students may participate in our Volunteer State Book Awards Program.
Each year librarians from across the state of Tennessee select 20 new books
(written within the past 5 years) that they think are great books for
children. The students from across the state are encouraged to read the
books and vote for their favorite. The book with the most votes by April is
the winner. The book's author is then honored at the Tennessee Association
of School Librarians yearly conference. He or she is presented the Volunteer
State Book Award for that year.
Students at Dresden Elementary School have the option of participating in
reading the books and voting for their favorite. Students must read a
minimum of 3 of the 20 titles to be elidgible to vote.
