Students attend skills lab weekly. 8TH grade boys and 7th grade girls attend
skills lab during Health and PE classes on Monday. On Wednesday, 7TH grade
boys and 8th Grade girls attend Skills Lab during Health and PE. On Friday,
all 6th grade students come to Skills Lab during their H/Pe times. Each
afternoon, the Skills Lab has a different 5th grade class. On Tuesdays and
Thursdays the lab is open to teachers and classes who are working on internet
based activities.
Each week, Skills Lab focuses on a different subject area. We use two web-
based programs to reinforce skills being taught in the regular classroom.
These programs are Skills Tutor (Reading, Language Arts, and Math) and Study
Island (Science).
Our rotation of classes is based on a six weeks period.
Week #1 is Reading Skills
Week #2 is Math Skills
Week #3 is Language Skills
Week #4 is Science Skills
Week #5 is Catch up time with classes that might have been shortened or
missed and for students who have not completed all assignments.
Week #6 is Technology week where we work on skills such as keyboarding and
powerpoint to help students learn new computer skills.
