DMS Beta Club

Welcome to the Dresden Middle School Beta Club Information Page.

Beta Club Sponsors are Jamie Rickman, Pam Copeland, Leigh Hart and Susan Teal.

Beta Club Officers are as follows:

General Information

  • 82 Active members
  • Mandatory monthly meeting 2nd Tuesday of each month
  • Beta Journal Magazine – Members will receive a Beta Journal about once per month at school.

Requirements and Standards

  • In order to be invited to join, you must have a 90 or better average in each subject for an entire semester.
  • In January, semester 1 averages are reviewed and those students meeting the criteria are invited to join.
  • 5th grade students cannot join until the second semester of their 5th grade year.
  • Once in, members must maintain a 90 or above overall average each six weeks.
  • Show their report card to the assigned sponsor (6th grade & 7th grade – Copeland; 7th; 8th Grade – Hart)
  • Attend the scheduled monthly meeting (2nd Tuesday of each month @ 7:30 am)

Assertive Discipline Policy

  • Receive demerit for any disciplinary entry on school disciplinary page (detention, paddling, bus write-up, etc.)
  • Failure to complete community service hours from previous year
  • 2 or more unexcused meetings
  • Demerit for “N” or “U” in conduct on report card; 3 or more Notices of Concern or Skills Lab referrals
  • Demerits accumulate from beginning of the year until the end of the year.
  • Students can receive 2 demerits per year. The 3rd demerit will result in dismissal from the club. The first infraction results in a warning and is not considered a demerit.
  • In-school Suspension – automatic demerit; no warning
  • Out-of-school Suspension – meeting with sponsors; possible expulsion from club
  • Consequences: Warning – sponsor conference; 1st demerit – lose 1 privilege; 2nd demerit – lose more than 1 privilege

Service Projects

  • All members must complete a minimum of 2 hours of community service per year.
  • Beta Club Motto: “Let Us Lead By Serving Others”
  • DMS Beta students required to perform 2 hours of community service per school year
  • Need parent volunteer(s) to help plan and coordinate projects throughout the year
  • Projects can be in conjunction with other organizations (Student Council, Church)
  • Any student who has not completed their service hours for the previous school year must do so before participating in the current school year's social activities and convention.
