Choral Music Syllabus

 
Students will receive an assignment syllabus every nine weeks.  Parents are 
encouraged to check this page for due dates.

8/11 Each class has begun to sing either in unison(4th) or harmony (5th-6th) 
Periods Specified warm-up exercises(Reciprocal) Each class is participating 
in group dynamic activities. Each class is beginning to work on song 
repertoire 
       Vocal Production and development of repertoire are On-Going
8/14 Creative project assigned with guidelines and rubric to (4th Period)
     (Due Date 8/18) (Inductive Strategy)

8/15 Perform rhythm patterns from L-R and R-L with accuracy (5th-6th Periods)
Perform rhythm patterns from L-R with accuracy (4th Per)

8/18 Creative project assigned with guidelines and rubric to (6th Period)
     (Due Date 8/22) (Inductive)

8/18 Rhythm project assigned with guidelines and rubric to (5th Period)
     (Due Date 8/22)(Graduated Difficulty Strategy)

8/25 Be prepared to sing "May We Follow You" and "Wee OH Wee" in unison
     giving attention to the focal points (4th Period)
     Be prepared to sing "Getting Ready to Sing" in 4 part harmony with  
     accuracy employing prescribed expansion and extension (5th Per)
     Be prepared to sing "Alleluia" giving attention to the focal points
     explanation, expansion and extension (6th Period)

8/27 Written Test-Identify the four Multiple Expression Levels and tell why 
     they are needed during a performance (All Choirs)

8/31 Clap and count rhythms (All Choirs)

9/1  The Staff, Music Literacy(reading in the treble and bass clefs (4th and 
     5th Periods)
     Intervals, Major Scales (solfege)(6th Period)
9/8  Homework sheet issued-Due 9/9

9/11 Review Test music literacy, trebel and bass clefs (4th-5th Periods)
     Review Test intervals and major scales (solfege) (6th Period)

9/15 Time Signatures (4th-5th Periods)
     Key Signatures (6th Period)

9/22 Homework shee issued-Due 9/23

9/25 Review Test Time Signatures (4th-5th Periods)
     Review Test Key Signatures (6th Period)

9/29 Review related musical terms (All)

10/2-3 Be prepared to sing in sections, the specified choral work (4t) 
       Be prepared to sing in quartets, the specified choral work (5th-6th)
       Nine Week Vocal Exam)
