Policy for Resubmits, Late Work, and Make-Up Work (1-8-07) Now that we have all made it to the 8th grade, it is time for us to focus even more on responsibility and preparing for high school. A big part of middle school is completing work on time and preparing for tests and quizzes appropriately. We have created some new guidelines for how resubmits, late work, and make-up work will be handled. Resubmits Students will not be allowed to resubmit all tests and quizzes on which he/she has earned a low score. However, at the teachers discretion, these can only be corrected if the score is a 70 or below. When the corrections are graded, only partial credit will be given for each item. For example, if each test item was worth 4 points, the student could only earn back two of those points for each corrected item. Resubmits will have to be returned in the within three days of the date on which the assignment was given back to correct. Late Work Late work is something that has gotten out of hand. Instead of viewing this as a privilege, too many students are depending on this opportunity. Accepting late work is something that is not done on our 8th grade team. Work should be completed and turned in on time. Make-Up Work When a student has an excused absence, it is the responsibility of the student to ask for make-up work. The student has three days after returning to school to turn in the make-up work and take any tests or quizzes that were missed. All tests and quizzes will be given during the IS time, and it is the responsibility of the student to report to the teacher for these tests/quizzes. If a student that has been absent tries to turn in work after the three days, the work will fall under our new late work policy and will not be accepted. |
