Will the class incorporate spelling and vocabulary?

Yes, there will be spelling and vocabulary lessons. Spelling and Vocabulary 
will be taught out of a seperate text. Mondays are designated spelling and 
vocabulary days. There will be weekly exercises and test over spelling and 
vocabulary.

Will students be reading novels?

There are six novels, nine for the advanced class, that we will read 
throughout the year. Those novel titles will be announced in class at the 
specified time. The goal is to read one novel per six weeks in addition to 
the advanced class reading two novel for the second, third and fourth six 
weeks.

Will students write papers?

Students will write several papers throughout the year. Types of writing 
include, but is not limited to, autobiographical, descriptive, creative, 
expository, research, and responding to literature. Papers must meet the 
minimum lenght requirement of two pages.

Does the teacher accept late work?

In order to recieve full credit for late work, the assignments must be 
accompanied by a valid excuse from the parent or school administrator. If no 
excuse is given, late work is only eligible for partial credit. If the work 
is over 3 days past due, then no credit will be given at all.

Can students make up missed tests and quizzes?

A student can only make up missed tests and quizzes if the student notifies 
the teacher in advanced that he or she will miss the test or quiz or if a 
note from the parent or administrator is given to the teacher.

What materials do students need for class?

Students are to come to class prepared with the necessary materials: 
textbooks, paper, writing utensils, homework, journal and other supplemental 
materials requested by the teacher.

How much homework will students have?

Homework will be given on a nightly basis. Students are also expected to 
work nightly on paper drafts and textbook readings. All homework can be 
completed in 1 hour. Any homework that requires more than 1 hour to complete 
will have additional days for completion.
