Once again, I extend heartfelt and sincere greetings for the 2007 - 2008 school year! Focus is
important as you begin this year. The National, State, and Metro Science Standards in your
subject will be followed meticulously, and your success in Chemistry I, Honors Chemistry, and
Research Science is dependent on this. It is my delight to provide you with a superior lab
experience. EVERYONE starts with an A. It is my expectation to see YOU follow-through on
classroom assignments, tests, quizzes, labs, and projects. You will be the only one that will
bring your score down. If you don't understand, ask questions. Each of you holds so much, and
I look forward to working with you. Remember, help is always available via tutoring
appointments. Make the time to get this help if you run into difficulty.
Please, use the Teacher Web website fully. The test scores were excellent for those using the
Study Guides and other aspects of the site for 2006 - 2007. By year's end most of the students
were on board on a consistent basis. This should be encouraging for one and all because it
provides the opportunity for a self-tutorial through the Study Guides link. Here practice tests
and study guides can be corrected, reset, and retaken again and again for your benefit. I
welcome any suggestions to improve the site.
I will continue to post:
1. Chapter Practice Tests;
2. Study Guides;
3. Assignments;
4. Homework tips;
5. Upcoming events for Chemistry I, Honors Chemistry, Science Research; and
6. Academic opportunities as our probable field trip to Oak Ridge National Laboratories
on October 26, 2007, the East Literature Magnet Tennessee Science Bowl Team
practices, departure date; and the like.
This site will, also, benefit you when absent.
Top Ten Steps to Success:
1. Try.
2. Try again.
3. Try once more.
4. Try it differently.
5. Try it a gain tomorrow.
6. Try and ask for help.
7. Try to find someone whos done it. Work with them.
8. Try to determine what is working.
9. Try to determine what is not working.
10. Just keep trying.
