*Do SR 1-4 (127).
*Worksheet Section 5-1
08 October 2009: *Read (128-139).
*Do PP 1-2 (133), 1-2 (136), 1-2 (138) 1 (139).

09 October 2009: *Designing Your Own Periodic Table
Periodic Table Project: Due on Monday, 03 November. This project is
worth six grades or two tests.
Project break down:
Rubric:
* Creativity: 20%;
* Completeness: 20%;
* Information Accuracy: 20%;
* Neatness: 20%; and
* Presentation: 20%.
Using the s and p blocks only, students MUST make-up the name and symbol of
an element. You can do this on poster board, foam board or tri-fold board.
It is to be 'easel' worthy. It MUST cover Groups I-A through VII-A, 50
elements. You are to provide and label the:
1. Atomic mass;
BELOW found on chart on (903).
2. d, density;
3. MP, Melting point;
4. BP, Boiling point;
5. Color; and
6. SOM, State of Matter, (s), (l), (g).
Additionally, to your NAME, DATE, CLASS, and PERIOD majic-marked with a
Sharpie on project back,
• TYPE a KEY which translates your element name and symbol
to the actual element name and symbol. This is to be glue-stuck to the back
of the project on one side.
• TYPE and answer the following questions and glue-stick it
to the back of your project on the other side of the KEY. Thus, there will
be two papers glue-stuck neatly to the back of their project.
1. Why did you use the category you did as Mendeleev used Atomic Mass,
et Henry Mosely used Atomic Numbers?
2. You will be tested on these elements at thr end of the project. Do
you know each of the actual elements your names et symbols represent? how
did this project assist you for the test?
3. Would you have improved this project as a learning tool? How?
12 October 2009: *Read (140-154).
*Draw F 5-14 (142), F5-16 (144),
F 5-18 (148), F5-21 (152).
*Do PP 1-2 (142), PP 1 (146), PP 1 (152-153).
*Do SR 1-3 (154).
13 October 2009: *Review and Q/A.
14 october 2009: *Chapter 5, The Periodic Law Test
*Chapter 6, Chemical Bonding
*Read (161-163).
*Do Practice (163).
*Do SR 1-4 (163).
