Attention 4th grade parents!

It's time to get serious about learning multiplication facts.  We
have been working on them during rotations for the past 2 weeks but
this is one thing you must help us with at home.  There are several
easy and inexpensive ways you can help your child learn these facts.

          1.  purchase a set of multiplication flashcards from Walmart, Tools
4 school, etc. and play a game with your child.  Hold up a
card, if they get the answer in 5 seconds or less they keep the
card, if not you get the card.  At the end the one with the
most cards wins. You can put a price on losing (like taking out
the trash, or washing the dishes, etc.) or a prize for winning
(like extra computer time, a sweet treat, etc.)  Increase your
              speed as you go along.

          2.  Practice them orally in the car as you drive along

          3.  Write fact families 5-8 times each.  Make sure your student
says the facts as they write them, or they will turn their
brains off and it will do no good.

          4.  Practice using computer games.  On our links page you will find
several great math websites that offer games to help practice
              multiplication facts.

We will quickly be moving into division, prime and composite
numbers, factorization, decimals, fractions, etc.  If your student
does not know their multiplication facts they will not do well in
          math from here on out.
