The music curricumum at Stuart Elementary is based on the National
Standards in
music.
1. Singing alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
2. Performing on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of
music.
3. Improvising melodies, variations, and accompaniments.
4. Composing and arranging music with specific guidelines
5. Reading and writing music.
6. Listening to, analyzing, and describing music.
7. Evaluating music and music performance.
8. Understanding relationships between music, the other arts, and
discipines
outside the arts.
9. Understanding music in relation to history and culture.
These standards can best be taught in an orderly classroom environment. The
following rules will help to maintain an orderly classroom

Rewards
Classes that mainitain an orderly class environment will be given a class
compliment to take back to the classroom teacher. Class rewards are given
for accumulated class compliments.
When a students does not follow these rules the following procedure will be
used:
Step 1 Time out
Step 2 Time out
Step 3 Time out/parent letter
Step 4 Parent conference/phone call
Step 5 Office referral
Music Grades
Grades given are E for excellence, S for satisfactory, or N for needs
improvement. These grades are based on skill development and appropriate
class participation.
