This year our students are participating in the Second Step program by
receiving lessons in their classrooms from their teacher.
Second Step is a violence prevention curriculum designed to promote social
competence and reduce children's social-emotional problems. It is made up of
units containing lessons on empathy, impulse control and problem solving, and
anger management. This is a school-wide emphasis. Family letters are sent home
with the students from time to time to help keep parents informed of what we
are talking about and ways you can reinforce this at home.
