FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
School officially starts at 7:15 am. Students must be in their classrooms at that time. Where do I drop off my child in the morning if I bring them to school? If you bring your child to school, please pull your car next to the sidewalk in front of the school to drop him/her off. Please do not park on the other side of the cross walk and let your child out. It is very dangerous for students to walk across the cross walk unattended. Riding the school bus is a way to make sure your child will never be tardy for school. It also helps tremendously on the traffic! May I send an absentee note when my child is absent? A written note is required of any excused absence. A phone call to explain an absence and to ask for makeup work is appreciated but a written note is still required within three days of your child's return to school. After five absences a doctor's note is required. What is my child allowed to wear? Wilson County has established a dress code policy that your child received in pamphlet form at the beginning of the school year. It is also in your child's agenda. How will I know when my child is out of dress code? Parents will be called by Mrs. Thompson or her designee. The parent will be asked to bring the student a change of clothing that is in compliance with the Wilson County Board of Education dress code. Please remember the dress code will be checked by the principals and teachers at Gladeville. May I take my child on a vacation without him/her being penalized? A principal may approve only 5 days for a student during the school year. The absence must be cleared with the principal one week prior to the student's absence. It is the responsibility of the student to get the makeup work completed and turned in. Can a student that has an unexcused absence makeup assignments? Students that have an unexcused absence may ask to makeup any test given during their absence if the request is made to the teacher orally, or written on the day they return to school. The highest grade a student with an unexcused absence can receive is an 84/C. However, no makeup work will be given for daily work. What happens when school closes early? At the beginning of the school year an inclement weather form goes home with each child. Parents are asked to fill it out specifying the mode of transportation their child is to use if school closes early. This form is kept with child's teacher. The teacher goes by this form on those days. This keeps down confusion for the student, teacher and the office. |
