Upon high school graduation in 1984, I enrolled in The University of
Tennessee at Martin's secondary education program. I graduated from U.T.M.
in 1988. I have been married to Mike Stafford for 21 years and we have two
sons, Braden and Carson. I have been teaching English at Gleason School for
15 years. After much thought and persuasion from my friends and family, I
decided to attend graduate school. I graduated from Trevecca Nazarene
University in 2004 with a Master's of Education. My family and I are very
active in the church we attend as well as with school functions. I have
truly enjoyed the ever changing pace and challenge of meeting the needs of
my students. Having the opportunity to influence and motivate students to
reach their goals has been a nice recompense for choosing teaching as a
career. This quote by Gladys Hunt summarizes my thoughts best. "A young
child, a fresh uncluttered mind, a world before him - to what treasures will
you lead him?"
It is my desire to instill within the students a love and appreciation of
literature while at the same time impress upon them the importance of
becoming effective oral and written communicators.
