Library Expectations

Mission Statement:  The mission of the Gleason School Library is to strive 
to instill and nurture a life-long love of reading in every student.

In the library, students are welcome to:  quietly check out a book, quietly 
take an Accelerated Reader test, quietly check out a magazine, quietly 
peruse the local newspapers, quietly research, quietly study.

Expectations:  
1.  Always whisper.
2.  Always be respectful.
3.  Always follow directions the first time they are given.
4.  Always raise your hand.
5.  Always take care of your library book.

**Junior high and high school--Always bring a library pass.

Rewards for Appropriate Choices:
self-respect, participation in library activities, library privileges 
(checking out books, use of computers, etc...), dogpaw (chance for a free 
break), points for your team (junior high)

Consequences for Inappropriate Choices:
verbal warning, removal from group, private conference, writers' 
paragraph/"I'm sorry" note, detention (junior high), principal's office, 
loss of library privileges
