I have been teaching about 15 years. This is my first teaching position.
Before teaching I was busy raising my two boys, Lucas and Joshua. I love
teaching and wouldn't do anything else. I love teaching the first grade
especially because it is so rewarding. Teaching a child to read intrigues
me, watching them develop and absorb the information that I give them. Most
children are sweet, fascinating individuals under the layers they pick up
from life. At six or seven you can still easily get under those layers to
that sweet child.
At church, Brother Gene talks about spiritual gifts. I feel that teaching
is my spiritual gift. My mission is to not only teach my children to read
and calculate but to handle them gently without bruising (for some not to
bruise them further) and to help support with love, caring and concern those
children whose life is not ideal.
