My name is Sheila Patterson, and this is my second year at Gleason School. I
truly enjoyed working in this school last year and cannot wait to see what
this year will bring! The people of Gleason, and in particular the faculty
and staff of Gleason School, are some of the nicest most welcoming people I
have ever met. I guess that is just one of the many reasons Gleason School
is known as the best in the county!
I live in Trenton with my husband, Steven, and my three children. Summer is
14 and in the 9th grade at Peabody High School. After being a middle school
cheerleader for three years, Summer has decided to give color guard with the
band a try, and so far she is really having fun with it. Samantha is 13 and
in the 8th grade at Trenton Middle School. She plays the flute in the
school band, soccer for the YMCA, and was a football cheerleader for the 07-
08 season. Skylar is the baby at 7 years old, and he is in 1st grade at
Trenton Elementary. He plays soccer for the YMCA, and loves
dinosaurs, bugs, lizards, and all kinds of other creatures! All of us enjoy
riding horses, when we can find the time!. We are also active members at
Fruitland Baptist Church where my husband is the Music Director. So,
needless to say we stay busy!
This is my fifth year as a School Counselor, but only my second working with
High School students. Formally, I was a counselor for a Jr. High School in
Gibson County. I enjoy working with older students and feel that I will be
able to guide them in an apporpriate manner when it comes to their post
graduation plans. I will also serve as co-sponsor for the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes this year, and I am looking forward to seeing how God
impacts the lives of the young people of Gleason. If you have any questions
for me or concerns about your child, please don't hesitate to call me or e-
mail me.
The Mission of the Gleason School Counselor's Program is to encourage each
student to reach their potential in the classroom, in their personal
relationships, and in their future careers. The Counselor believes that all
students are worthy of respect and should be treated with kindness and
concern for their individual issues. In addition, each student should be
expected to set goals for themselves and will be challenged, guided, and
encouraged to work toward meeting those goals.
