Advanced Class Expectations

1. I expect all students to follow all of the classroom rules.

2. I expect advanced students to demonstrate a high ability level of
understanding.

3. I expect advanced students to initiate good classroom management and
study habits. This includes behavior, following instructions, coming
prepared with assignments, studying for upcoming tests, etc.

4. I expect advanced students to be responsible for their individual
learning. This includes no cheating on assignments, tests, etc. This also
includes asking questions as soon as the student needs help and staying for
tutoring if needed. This includes staying with the pace of the class.

5. I expect advanced students to demonstrate initiative when it comes to
their learning. In other words, I expect the students to ask me for help
instead of me having to tell them they need help.

Rules & Consequences

1. Come to class prepared everyday.

Students are expected to bring the textbook, notebook, calculator, and a
writing utensil EVERYDAY to class. Do NOT plan on borrowing paper, pencils,
etc from me or your neighbors! This is YOUR class - YOU supply your own
tools! Not doing so will result in the student using a hall pass to go get
their materials OR paying money to purchase supplies from the teacher.

Students are also expected to come to class prepared to learn. Each day
students will be working to learn new material. Students should come
prepared to dedicate the entire class time to math. Students choosing not
to focus on math during class will be sent to another teacher's room and
will still be held responsible for the material and assignments covered in
class.

2. Interruptions of the learning process will not be tolerated. The
course will be taught at the teacher's convenience - not your's.

Sleeping in class will result in standing the remaining class period.

Writing letters or working on other assignments during instruction or work
time will result in the letter or work being taken up. Letters will be read
to a parent when I call home. The work will be taken up and sent to the
teacher that assigned the work incomplete. If this is something
that continues, a parent may be asked to come sit with the student in class
to help keep the student on task.

Talking out of turn/off topic/making insulting comments or disruption of
others will warrant one warning prior to being sent out of the classroom
with write-offs. The student will still be required to complete any
assignments given as if the student was in class. No extra time will be
allotted to complete the assignments. A parent will be called and the write-
offs MUST be finished before returning to my class. If this is something
that is repeated a parent will be asked to come sit with the student during
class.

Texting will result in the phone being taken up and turned in to the
office. Student may receive the phone back by following the school's cell
phone/electronic device policy.

3. Be respectful at all times.

Showing disrespect EVEN AS A JOKE will result in consequences. The student
will be required to write a two page paper on respect as well as a letter of
apology to any person(s) they disrespected. The paper and letter must be
completed and turned in to me before returning to class.

4. Keep hands (and all body parts) to self at all times.

Hitting, play fighting, etc. will not be tolerated. Hitting and play
fighting will result in being sent to an administrator. Picking
at each other will result in sitting in isolation for two days.

5. DO NOT touch my belongings without permission.

The area behind my desk/podium is off limits. I will not sit in your seat
and go through your belongings, so please show me the same respect. Failure
to adhere to this policy will result in an extra assignment to be completed
prior to re-entering the classroom. If damage should occur, the student
will be held accountable financially for the costs of repairs.
