I have served in the educational field in many many capacities. I began my
career as as educator working at Greene Valley Developmental Center working
with residents providing direct care. In 1978, I accepted an Adaptive
Behavior resource teaching position at Doak Elementary School where I
remained until 1980. My father became ill so I took a leave of absence to
work in our family business, Dobson's Grocery. I actually worked as the
butcher for our family owned grocery store for several years. Once my
parents decided to retire and lease the store, I returned to the classroom
at Chuckey Elementary. I remained employed as a resource teacher for the
Greene County Board of Education until 1994 when I accepted my position as
the Alternative Learning Program Instructor and Attendance Officer.

The Alternative Learning Program is designed to enable students to return
and succeed in the regular classroom setting. Students that attend ALP are
expected to conform to standards of behavivor. Stringent rules are in place
with absolutely no misbehavior allowed. This non-traditional learning center
uses interactive technology with integrated project based learning to assist
students to reconnect to the regular classroom. It is my goal that students
will be given the opportunity to advance academically.
