About The Teacher

I have 13 years teaching experience with 11 of those at Greeneville High
School. I was the school webmaster for 11 years and Student Services
Coordinator during the 2004-05 school year. While in both positions, I
continued to teach a full load of classes. My favorite class is Personal
Computing--it changes daily! I have some of my classes participate in the
International Stock Market Game each term and some have had quite a bit of
success. Two teams have finished first in the regional competition and
others have finished in the top three spots! Two years ago, I sponsored the
inaugural chapter of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) at GHS.
This year, I am co-sponsoring the GHS Student Council.

I am married to Walter Socha and have two grown daughters, Shelly Woolsey
Smith and Rebecca Woolsey Lawson. Both daughters are in the education
field--Shelly is principal at Greeneville Middle School and Rebecca is a
4th grade teacher at Doak Elementary School. I have twin grandaughters,
Lauren and Lindsey, and one grandson, Jacob. We also have a very spoiled
basset hound named Sadie. Sadie is 2 years old and looks forward to visiting
the bank, cleaners, the drug store, and all the other places that help us
spoil her by giving her treats. I have 3 stepdaughters who live in Florida
with their families and among them, they add 7 more grandchildren.

I have lived on a farm most of my life and thoroughly enjoy the great
outdoors. There's nothing like growing and preserving one's own food and
the memories made in the process! I still love playing in the dirt, crafts,
sewing, and helping my mother quilt. I'm a huge Atlanta Braves and Lady Vols
fan and hate it when each season ends but look forward to the next one.

Mission

My goal for each class is for students to acquire skills that will benefit
them throughout their lives, and that they will be inspired to continue
learning.
