Scholarships on this page are listed in the order they have been received in the Guidance Office with the newest entries listed first. Deadline dates are given if they have been provided with the information. Where applicable, links to online applications and information will follow scholarship description. Scholarship entries will be deleted from the list as the deadlines pass. Deadlines will also be posted on the appropriate grade level calendars. Want to show off your fashion talent and attend one of The Art Institutes for Fashion Design or Fashion Marketing & Merchandising and Retail Management, then The Art Institutes' Passion for Fashion Competition might be for you. Winners in each category will win full tuition scholarships to the Art Institute of their choice. Each local winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship to an Art Institute. Entries must include a completed Entry & Release Form, transcript verifying a minimum 2.0 GPA, a short essay and other requested materials needed specifically for each of the two categories entered. The top winners of the Best Teen Chef competition will win full scholarships to The Art Institute of their choice. Local competition winners will receive a $3,000 tuition scholarship. To enter you must be a senior with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and submit a completed Entry & Release form by February 6, 2009 to a participating Art Institute that you would like to attend that offers a Culinary Arts program. Tennessee School of Beauty is offering the C. B. Brown Scholarship opportunity to high school seniors not presently enrolled in a Cosmetology course, but wishing to pursue a career in the field of Cosmetology. Four $9,995 tuition scholarships are awarded for the 1,500 hour General Cosmetology course. Scholarship applications must be submitted to TSB by March 31, 2009. www.tennesseeschoolofbeauty.com Are you a senior at the top of your class and plan to enroll in one of Vanderbilt's four undergraduate schools? If so, bring a resume to the guidance office by December 5, 2008 to be considered for nomination to the Vanderbilt Top TENN Scholarship Program. Recipients of the scholarship receive one-half of their Vanderbilt tuition. www.vanderbilt.edu Berrien Feragos Thorn Arts Scholarships for Migrant Farm Workers was formed to foster and encourage the creative talents of individuals with a history of migration to obtain work in agriculture. Applicants must be 16 or older, show a record of migrant movement and submit a letter of recommendation. There is no deadline for grants under $500. Grant requests for up to $2,500 are awarded semi-annually and applications deadlines are June 1 and November 1. www.migrant.net The Gloria and Joseph Mattera National Scholarship Fund for Migrant Children was set up to assist those migrant farmworker youth who have the desire and potential to further their education. Applicants must be able to show recent history of movement for agricultural employment, scholastic potential, financial need and plan to enroll in an accredited post-secondary school. There is no deadline for application. www.migrant.net Christian Connector is a "none-stop-shop" for receiving free information from Christian Colleges. A $2,500 Christian College scholarship drawing is held each year and the scholarship is awarded to an individual who completes the information request form and goes on to attend a Christian college or Bible college. You can enter the drawing between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009. To complete a request form and be entered go to www.christianconnector.com. Discover Colleges. Inc. provides a free private college information service. One $2,500 private colleges scholarship drawing is held each year and the scholarship is awarded to an individual who completes the information request form between Aug. 15, 2008 and Aug. 14, 2009 and goes on to attend a private college or university. www.discovercolleges.com The Young Epidemiology Scholars Competition provides college scholarships to high school juniors and seniors who submit an outstanding research project that sheds light on a health problem using epidemiological methods. Epidemiology is the science of exploring patterns of disease, illness, and injury within populations with the goal of developing methods for prevention, control, and treatment. Each year 120 students are awarded scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $50,000. For more information and to enter go to www.collegeboard.com/yes. All submissions must be entered by February 2, 2009. Seniors planning on attending Tennessee Tech University next fall can check out scholarship opportunities by going to www.tntech.edu/scholarships and clicking on ScholarWeb. This site will match your qualifications to available scholarships at TTU. You may apply for admission to TTU and scholarships online. If you apply using paper application you must also use the paper scholarship form. You must apply for admission and scholarships by December 15, 2008 to be eligible for the scholarships. The Stan and Thelma Plumlee Scholarship is an $8,000 scholarship offered by the Tennessee Manufactured Housing Association. To qualify you must be a senior planning to attend a Tennessee college, university or trade school and either live in a manufactured home or work in or be related to someone who works in the manufactured home industry. Applications must be received by the committee no later than March 16, 2009. The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest invites high school students from grades 9 thru 12 to write an original essay about an elected official who has demonstrated political courage. The 1st Place winner will receive $5,000 in scholarship money, the 2nd Place winner will receive $1,000 and 5 finalists will walk away with $500 scholarships each. Essays must be submitted either online or by mail no later than January 10, 2009. For more information and to register go to www.jfklibrary.org . Seniors planning to earn a degree in engineering or a related science should look at information on the 2009 SAE Engineering Scholarships. This program offers undesignated scholarships as well as university sponsored scholarships. Each scholarship you choose to apply for has different minimum requirements which can be found online at sae.org/students/engschlr. Applications must be postmarked by December 1, 2008. The Ron Brown Scholar Program is open to African-American high school seniors who excel academically, show exceptional leadership and make an impact on their communities through service to others. Up to 20 students will receive $10,000 annually for four years. Applications postmarked by November 1, 2008 will be considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program and forwarded to a select number of additional scholarship providers. Applications postmarked between November 2, 2008 and January 9, 2009 will be considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program only. www.ronbrown.org The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is dedicated to selecting well-rounded students for their Coca-Cola Scholarships. Each year 50 $20,000 and 200 $10,000 scholarships are awarded to deserving high school seniors. Applicants must be current high school seniors carrying a minimum 3.0 GPS at the end of their junior year and planning on pursuing a degree at an accredited 4-year US Post-secondary institution. Students must apply online at www.coca-colascholars.org and applications must be submitted no later than October 31, 2008 If you have made a difference by volunteering in your community during the past year, you could win $1,000 and a trip to Washington, DC. Apply online for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award and follow all directions carefully. After printing a copy of your online application, bring it to the guidance office no later than October 31, 2008. www.prudential.com/spirit The Culinary Institute of America's NSO Members Scholarship is available to students who are active members of FCCLA, SkillsUSA or ProSTart for at least one academic year and plan to enroll at CIA by June 2010. Submit a completed scholarship application and essay by March 1, 2009. www.ciachef.edu/admissions/finaid/merit Are you a senior planning to enroll in the Culinary Institute of America by December, 2009 and you have a great original recipe for leftover Thanksgiving turkey? If so, you will want to take advantage of the Culinary Institute of America's Top Turkey Recipe Contest and compete for up to $15,000. Entries must be submitted by November 7, 2008. Eligibility is not based on GPA or financial need. One $1,000 winner will be chosen every two weeks from October 31, 2008 through May 15, 2009. You may enter once per drawing. However, students can register after each drawing for the next scheduled drawing. offtocollege.info The Gates Millennium Scholars program is available to seniors who are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American. The nominee must be a US citizen, maintain at least 3.3 GPA, demonstrate leadership abilities through participation in community service and extracurricular activities and meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. Full instructions can be obtained and applications can be submitted online or downloaded at www.gmsp.org. Paper application must be postmarked and online applications submitted by January 12, 2009. www.gmsp.org The Danforth Scholars Program at Washington University in St. Louis honors students whose life choices are guided by integrity, selflessness, a commitment to community and a dedication to leadership and academic excellence. Danforth Scholars may receive full or partial tuition scholarships which are renewable each year. IF you ar looking to attend Washington University in St. Louis next fall and would like to be nominated for this award, you can come see Mrs. Thompson in guidance no later than October 1, 2008. admissions.wustl.edu/scholarships/programs/Pages/Danforth.aspx The Horatio Alger Scholarship Program seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in the face of adversity, financial need and a good academic record. To be eligible you must be a senior, intend to pursue a Bachelor's degree at an accredited institution, have a family adjusted gross income of $50,000 or less, be involved in school and community activities and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. On-line application and all documentation must be submitted by October 30, 2008. www.horatioalger.org/scholarships Seniors planning on attending Emory University in Atlanta and wanting to be considered for the Emory Scholars Program must be nominated by their high school. We are allowed to send four nominations. Those wanting to be nominated must fill out the candidate side of the nomination form and return it along with the requested documentation to the guidance office by October 17, 2008 as they must arrive at the admissions office by November 1. www.college.emory.edu/current/achievement/scholars/scholars.html If you have a strong interest in business and been considering Emory University's Goizueta Business School, you will want to check out the Goizueta Scholars Program. This program is highly selective. Those wanting to be nominated must fill out the candidate side of the nomination form and return it along with requested documentation to guidance by October 17, 2008 as they must be completed and be received by the office of admission by November 1.
