I began teaching at Greenfield High School in December 2006. I have a B.S.
in Education (Secondary Mathematics) and a B.M. in Piano Pedagogy from UTM. I
love teaching both math and music.
I am available for extra help at 7:30, during 5th period, and many
days after school.
I want my students upon leaving my class to better understand and appreciate
the role of mathematics in the world. I wish to take away some of the terror
associated with math for those who have long struggled with the subject. It
is my intention to be available for individual help outside of class, where I
can take time to patiently explain concepts. During class, I desire to use a
variety of strategies when appropriate to appeal to different learning
styles. For some students, a solid math background in high school will be a
precursor to careers in math or science. For them, I want to challenge their
minds to develop a deeper understanding of the math, not just the basic steps
needed to solve the problems. Beyond mathematics, I want my students to
cultivate a love of learning that will extend past the walls of this school.
For this, they must work and think hard. Finally, I hope all my students to
realize that I care first about them as people, not math students. Aiding
the development of character and the transition from children to successful
adults is a goal I strive to keep foremost in my mind.
