How can I help my child be a better student?

Each Monday look for the weekly homework sheet in your child's
folder. It lists all the skills we will be working on that
week. It includes the spelling and vocabulary words. The
spelling test will be given on Thursday, and a weekly reading
quiz and TCAP practice test on Friday.

Every workbook page that I send home - reading, spelling,
grammar, and math -will have a parent note at the bottom with
activities for you to do with your child. When we begin a new
unit in math, I will send home a page from the math book that
tells what we're learning and has a math game. I also have
available on a cd the entire math book, practice book, and other
resources that can accessed on your home computer. These disks
are for your use during the school year. Please send me a note,
call me, or come by our classroom and I'll be glad to loan you
one. All I ask is that you return it by the end of this school
year.

Read aloud to and with your child. Visit the Nathan Porter
Library and register for a library card if you don't have one.
Then check out the wonderful books, videos, and other excellent
resources they have.
