Hello, my name is Andrea Anderson. I teach the Extended Resource Class. The
class serves grades 9-12 and offers social skill development, Life Skills
and character enhancement while also assisting students in academics based
on individualized needs. Joining me in our classroom is our outstanding
teacher assistant, Wanda Cooper who assists in providing education as part
of a team to meet student needs.
I graduated from University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Communications. I lived in Texas for 10 years where I received my
certification in Special Education. I have taught students with varying
disabilities for 11 years and have had targeted training with students with
autism. I am a member of the National Autism Society and I have attended
several state wide autism conferences for the past 5 years. I am certified
to teach using the division TEACCH method (Treatment and Education of
Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children) and I have received
the “highly qualified” designation in both Texas and Tennessee. I am happy
to be at Harriman High teaching such GREAT students and look
forward to teaching the students in my classroom everyday.
