Is the eleventh grade writing assessment really that important?

The eleventh graders take a writing assessment in February of '09. We will
prepare for it beginning early in this school year. Writing scores range
from 0 to 6 with a 6 being the highest. We will strive to make sure that our
students score at least a 4 and, hopefully, higher. Communication through
writing is essential for students as they prepare to enter the work force.
