8th Grade MARIE RICHARDSON Language Arts/Reading
Week of November 30
This week I will continue my novel study of THE OUTSIDERS with the literary
elements emphasized through this fabulous book by S.E. Hinton. We will be
reading it in class with chapter questions incorporated into the study.
Social groups has introduced this study through graphic organizers since this
novel is about two rival
gangs. We are now practically through the novel and will continue the
questions until we have finished all 12 chapters. We have finished a graphic
organizer on comparing and contrasting the video with the book. Some
additional info. I am including in the video such as readings from the actors
as they look now.
Discovery Ed results will be reviewed by me.
Honors will have the last ten words on Unit 7 and do the FRAYER models.
The last essay, "My Favorite Season" is still in the process of being
evaluated by using the rubric. These were graded holistically.
The new essay, "What I Am Thankful For" will be timed 35 minutes on Mon. to
help with the preparation of the writing essay. Originally I was going to
have this assignment last week, but I dedided to wait until the regular 5-day
week.
I will continue my curriculum for a thorough preparation of verbs and the
novel study elements. There will be a benchmark test over verbs this week as
well.
