8th Grade MARIE RICHARDSON Language Arts/Reading Week of January 4 Mon.--Administrative Day Tues.--We will begin our POETRY UNIT this week by asking questions on what poetry is. Also, I have a lesson comparing dark chocolate to poetry where I bring in some chocolate for each student. We brainstorm on writing variety. I will also give out the requirements for the poetry folder which is due in two weeks. This folder is composed of twenty poems where the students are introduced to different types of poems. For the rest of the week I will explain poetry terms and writing styles of poems. In grammar we will continue to work on capitalization and punctuation. Commas, semicolons, and colons need to be emphasized more than some other areas. There will again be some surprise essay assignments where I time the students for 35 minutes to prepare for the writing assessment. JOB SHADOWING will place the 5th of February.
