8th Grade MARIE RICHARDSON Language Arts/Reading
Week of November 9
This week I will continue my novel study of THE OUTSIDERS with the literary
elements emphasized through this fabulous book by S.E. Hinton. We will be
reading it in class with chapter questions incorporated into the study.
Social groups will introduce this study through graphic organizers since this
novel is about two rival
gangs. Chapter one has already been read, and we will begin Chaper two.
Discovery Ed will take place on Tues. of this week.
Honors will have Unit 6 (second part) with the Frayer Models on Mon.(working
in class) and
final ones due on Fri. of this week (test also on Fri.). All classes need to
expect some assessments on subjects and predicates in the verb section.
Next essay will be "My Favorite Season" which will be the same rubric with
two additions. They need to have at least one metaphor/simile through the
essay and two sentences begin with adjectives.
The final draft will be due on Mon., November 9 of the following week and
will be graded holistically.
We will also work on our homonym unit and have some additional work on
grammar material.
